The PackLite Hero Supercharger has a 5V, 2 Amp output. This translates to charging that’s as fast as your wall outlet. You don’t have to sacrifice for solar.
We added a 4000 mAh battery. This is twice the size of our first phone charger. This means that not only do you have more energy stored before you set out on your trip, but you also have more wiggle room to solar charge whenever you have sun without worrying if it will go to waste.
How much will it really charge your phone? Of course it depends on the size of the battery in your phone. Most phones range between 2000 - 3300 mAh batteries. The iPhone 8 packs about 1800 mAh, while the iPhone 8 Plus sits at about 2600 mAh. The Samsung 8 and Google Pixel 2 both are right around 3000 mAh. This means that at full charge the PackLite Hero with 4000 mAh can fully recharge the iPhone 8 more than twice, and varies between 125-170% recharge for the other phone types mentioned.
The big difference about the PackLite Hero from other chargers is that it has both a solar panel and an integrated battery (not to mention the lantern). So while other battery packs will run out after a few charges, you can harness the power of the sun with the PackLite Hero and continue to charge your phone for however long your trip is. When you’re off-grid, that makes the difference.
What about your other devices? Recharging a standard camera will give you 2 full recharges. Tablets vary more widely because of their varying battery size. The Kindle Fire and iPad Mini both run at about 4500 mAh, while the iPad 4 is more than 11000 mAh, so the charging on a tablet could range between 30-85% charging boost from the PackLite Hero. Most headlamps can be charged 2-3 times over with a single charge on the PackLite Hero.
